Hey everyone, Scott here! Can you believe it’s already November? It feels like just yesterday we were celebrating the New Year and embracing winter festivities like Winterfest. As we look back on another whirlwind season filled with excitement and unforgettable events, it’s amazing how quickly time has passed.
This year has been a mix of highs and lows for both myself and the DiscGolf716 brand. As I look ahead to 2025, I can’t help but reflect on the valuable lessons I’ve learned. From navigating drama and website issues to the overwhelming rush of content creation, it’s been a significant journey. There was a moment in June when I considered stepping away from the sport entirely, but with the support of friends and family, I was able to turn things around. What started as challenges transformed into some of my greatest achievements, like successfully running my first tournament and growing both as a player and a brand manager.
I’m choosing not to revisit the drama or the lows—I’ve learned from those experiences, and they’re behind me now. They’ve only motivated me to elevate DiscGolf716 to new heights. With so many exciting things on the horizon in the coming months, it’s time to focus on the highlights from this year. Let’s celebrate the successes and look towards 2025!
DiscGolf716 Brand:
Even though there were times this season when it felt like no one recognized DiscGolf716, 2024 has been an incredible year of growth. It’s been inspiring to see our jerseys and shirts on the course and to hear from people who discovered new events and courses through our website and social media. Overall, it’s been a fantastic year!
As we approach our fifth anniversary, it’s time to take things to the next level and solidify DiscGolf716's presence not just in the local community but in the broader disc golf scene. In 2025, we’ll be making some updates to our brand, starting with a small change to our logo. When I first created the logo, I wasn’t sure how it would be used, and the main circle logo wasn’t intended to be the primary one at the start. Over the past four years, things have evolved, and I've been calling DiscGolf716 “DG716.” So, I’ve decided to revamp the DG716 logo to make it more distinctive and versatile. You'll see this updated design alongside our classic circle logo!
Website:
Overall, the website was a success, achieving new daily highs in visits and views. However, we encountered several challenges, particularly with mobile functionality. Efforts to fix these issues often led to more complications, and before I knew it, I was two months behind on updates.
Moving forward, we need to ensure the site is more user-friendly and easier to keep updated and edited. That’s exactly what I’ve been focusing on for the past month or two. I’m committed to making the experience smoother for everyone!
Content and Social Media
In 2024, we explored a variety of content across our platforms to see what resonates with you. Overall, it seemed like you enjoyed it, but I realized I didn’t have a solid system in place to keep track of everything. So, as we head into 2025, I’ve implemented a new system that will help everyone stay updated on what needs to be created and what’s already in the pipeline for release.
Looking ahead, we’re already brainstorming ideas for next year’s content. Personally, I’m excited about launching a new web series along with plenty of fun projects. We’re also committed to keeping you informed about all the latest happenings in the disc golf community. Essentially, we’re returning to the original vision I had for DiscGolf716 back in 2020. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
Event Planning:
After experiencing the excitement of running events in 2023, I decided to take on the challenge of organizing a tournament in 2024. Although it came with its share of stress and a few rookie mistakes, I’m thrilled to report that, based on conversations with players, our inaugural Niagara Classic presented by West Herr and Latitude 64 was a resounding success. I couldn’t have done it without the incredible support from our sponsors, teammates, and family. I’m already looking forward to the return of the Niagara Classic next year and maybe some other events soon to be announced in the next coming weeks!
Stay tuned as we gear up for the 2025 season and celebrate our five-year anniversary! In the coming weeks, we’ll be announcing exciting new events, merchandise, and content. Join us on this journey as we take the next step and go the extra mile!
